Stewards
A cabin steward is the person that will be responsible for taking care of your cabin for the duration of the cruise; they serve the basic function of a “maid” but are far more personable due to the fact that they really get to know you while on board. Each steward will have a set of cabins that they are responsible for taking care of. They’re main responsibility is to freshen up your cabin each morning and turn down your bed each evening. They also will be the one to deliver your cruise newsletter, and important documents throughout the cruise and upon disembarkation. They will be sure to introduce themselves on the first day, and will really try to make you feel at home.
Unpacking and Storage
Because your stateroom will be your home for the next several days, we really urge you to get comfortable and unpack your bags. Be sure to utilize the storage space provided in the cabin, and the beds have been designed for you to be able store your empty suitcase. As a courtesy to your cabin mate please do not leave your suitcase out. All the closets have been stocked with hangars and shelves for your clothes, plus additional drawers in the vanity.
Also included in your stateroom:
- Thermostat- for your comfort
- Blow dryer- located in the vanity
- Safe- to be programmed with your own combination
- Refrigerator- filled with pricey snacks and drinks
- Free room service- courtesy tips appreciated
Cabin Key Cards
The room key provided to you also serves as your currency while on the ship. Should you lose it, immediately go to the Customer Service desk and report it as such. They will deactivate your old card and provide you with another. Because this card is connected to your credit card, it is advised that you obtain a copy of your bill to be sure there are not any unauthorized purchases from the time your key went missing.
Cruise Flyer
Every day there will be a flyer left in your room talking about the next days events. It will talk about the next port of call, show information, and activities taking place around the ship. Included with this flyer will be other important information about disembarkation, luggage tags, excursion information, sale flyers for the gift shops, and other documents. It will always be delivered when your steward turns your bed down each evening so be sure to read it in your spare time!
Laundry Service
Each cabin has a form for laundry service. They have dry cleaners, tuxedo rentals, and will wash your clothes for you. Just fill out the form that was provided and attach it to the items that you wish to have serviced; your cabin steward will take it from there. Most of the time the cruise line will advertise special deals on laundry that will be announced in your cruise flyer so be sure to watch for them!
Room Service
Room Service is available for those that want food delivered to the cabin. Between the hours of 12 midnight and 6 am there is a fee, but for the rest of the day it is free of charge. The form will be available to you in your stateroom, and can usually be found with the laundry forms.
Muster Stations
A Muster Station is where you would assemble in case of an emergency. Each life boat will be assigned to a group of cabins to ensure that all passengers will be safely evacuated in the unlikely event of an emergency. Your life jackets will be located in your stateroom closet, and a map of your assigned muster station will be posted on the back of your stateroom door. There will be a mandatory drill where passengers will assemble at their assigned muster stations, during this time there will be important announcements and safety information given, this will take place before setting sail on day one.
